Torrevieja is placed next to the seacoast, in southern
Valencian Region. The town is surrounded by two beautiful
and large natural saltwater lagoons, which form the
well known "Salt works of Torrevieja", which
are considered the biggest in Europe and the second
biggest in the world.
Torrevieja is placed 47 Km far from the capital of the
province, Alicante, and 35 Km far from El Altet and
San Javier International Airports. Torrevieja became
one of the most relevant tourist spots within the Mediterranean
Coast due to its remarkable development and improvement
achieved during the last years.
Torrevieja is endowed with a dry, regular climate all
over the year where you will enjoy 360 sunlight days
per year and 18 ?C on average. Moreover, it is plenty
of fascinating and pleasant features just like fine-grained
sand beaches, squares, boulevards, parks, gardens, natural
reserves (Ferris), important artistic historic monuments
(for example, a modernist casino dated from the turn
of the century, with the famous living-room decorated
in the Mozarabic style; and the Eras de la Sal Auditorium),
spread around the city and surroundings.
This enjoyable environment is provided with innumerable
services, which are directly focused on the Tourist
Industry. These advantages are assisted by a welcoming,
nice people who are open to any other cultures of the
whole world, thanks to their important inherited sailor
tradition, which comprehends cabotage, fishing and water
sports. Torrevieja is blessed with a unique microclimate,
which is the most important natural feature considering
the vast range of advantages, together with the healthy
benefits of its salt-watered lagoons: these constitute
the foundation of Torrevieja’s development . |
